The Hudson House
Reagan, Age 13, Pearland, TX

As I reach for the old rusted doorknob my heart was pounding and I was shaking all over. I soon grabbed the doorknob and turned it. It wouldn’t bugged at first but then it swung open.

My name is Melanie Martin. I am thirteen and I live in Houston, Texas. Rebecca Hunter and I have formed a clique and we’ve stuck to it. We are really daring people and we will do all the dares.

It all started at Rebecca’s party. I started to play “Truth or Dare”. More people joined in as the dares got worse. Rebecca choose me and of course I picked dare.

She dare me to go in the old Hudson house (which is known to be haunted) in my nightgown. I thought about it and told her she has to go too.

We both walked down Hudson Lane till we got to the house with the number 1413 on it: the haunted house. We stopped and stared at it. We both knew that no one had been in there for years. If someone did they never came out.

We walked slowly toward the door.

As I reached for the old rusted doorknob my heart was pounding and I was shaking all over. I soon grab the doorknob and turn it. It wouldn’t bugged at first but then it swung open.

We both jumped back and almost tripped, and I had second thoughts about going in. Rebecca on the other hand thought there was nothing to be afraid of. I walked through the door behind Rebecca. We couldn’t find the light switch. So she pulled out her cell phone and opened it so she could search for the light switch. She realized it was right behind the door. She flipped it on and nothing happened.

I guess I started walking off because I couldn’t hear her anymore. Thinking I couldn’t see anymore I tried to retrace my steps back to where I last saw her.

Back at the front door, Rebecca was nowhere to be found. On the floor was her left purple slipper.

I was freaking out and I really was scared. I was calling her name and she never answered. About five minutes later, Rebecca jumped out from behind me and scared me half to death.

So after all it was just Rebecca.
