Zoe was ready for anything. But what she wanted most of all was an adventure.

Ella, on the other hand, was having second thoughts.

"Come on,” Zoe coaxed gently. "I'm the queen and you're my Court Jester. You have to wear the hat! It's Halloween! We've got to go, don’t want to miss all the fun, do you?"

Zoe is a girl who wants an adventure, but with a wheelchair and a body that doesn’t do what she wants it to all the time, that seems merely impossible. Simon, her brother, then plans a tobogganing adventure for Zoe with the help of Nalini, and Anna, her best friend. What Zoe doesn’t know is that Lisa, a girl in her class who Zoe dislikes very much, is watching her from her window, and one day Nalini twists her ankle going down the hill, Anna's puppy Cinder starts to run away, and Zoe is left alone in her wheelchair. It so happens to be that one of Lisa's birds gets loose and the only person that can help is Zoe.

Christina Minaki enjoys horseback riding, reading, traveling, and spending time with her nephew. She works as a librarian in Toronto and also writes and reviews books. Minaki is a strong advocate for the rights of women, children, and people with disabilities. Her two miniature poodles named Sammy and Barney, who she recently rescued, have a great time jumping on and off her wheelchair.

This book really spoke to my heart. The feeling woven in between the lines that Zoe felt are written as clearly as tropical water. I felt my feet in her shoes (even though they are a little small) I felt what she felt-not having fun, embarrassment, exhilaration-everything! I wouldn’t read this book if I didn’t like heartwarming stories and fiction. You might not like books about people with disabilities and their struggles, but on the other hand, you might be pulled into this well -written novel and enjoy it anyways.

Zoe's Extraordinary Holiday Adventures deserves 5 adventurous stars!
