He was so intent on his progress that he did not notice the dark figures threading through the trees.

Al Lister is a fourteen-year-old boy that loves to go canoeing.  The story takes place mostly in pre-modern times.  The main problem, he is transported four hundred years into the past.

I think Ghosts of James Bay is a good book because it combines a high seas adventure with a time travel story.  Another reason is because the author leaves good cliffhangers at the end of chapters.  Lastly, it has a very interesting and complex plot.

Other books by this author include Across Frozen Seas, the trilogy Weet, Weet’s Quest and Weet Alone.  He lives in Lantzville, BC. I would recommend this book for ages 8 and up because it is a simple read with only a few hard words.

I rate Ghosts of James Bay 5 stars.
