Chocolate
Mia, Age 13, Beaverton, OR

Chocolate is the warm, inviting smell;
The crispy crinkle of tinfoil
It first comes delicate and sweet,
Unfolding into a lavish treat
The pure infatuation at first bite;
Absolute decadence sets the soul alight

Chocolate is the euphoria that comes
After dosage when feeling glum
Call it my drug, what you may;
Chocolateís my friend every day
Square upon square, row upon row,
Dear chocolate sets my day aglow

Now that Iíve had quite my fill
Chocolate has lost its elating thrill
I guess Momís right when she said,
ďAny more chocolate and youíll lose your head.Ē
