“Because from the instant you woke up in that cell, you seemed so determined, so cold, so mechanical!  But now, it’s like you’ve loosened up a bit. Like you’re one of us again.”

Six chuckled. “Humans.”

The main character in this story is Agent Six of Hearts.  He is the best spy/operative for an organization called the Deck. They fight against the oppression of the evil Chaosonic. There’s only one problem; the Lab created Six in an illegal experiment.  And the Lab is a branch of the Chaosonic! If the organization ever found out, it could be the end of Six.

I think this is a must read for ages 12 and up, because of the author’s amazing storyline (super spy for a secret division of operatives fighting for justice/freedom from Chaosonic). Another reason is that the author seems to capture what it would be like to be a young super spy (really in-depth).  And lastly, his information about the weapons used really worked.

Jack Heath, the 21-year-old author, started writing The Lab in high school and published it before he graduated.  He lives in Canberra, Australia. In my opinion, the book genre is a mystery/action-adventure. I liked how you figure out more about Six’s shady background.  Jack Heath plays bass in several different bands.

I give Jack Heath’s The Lab five stars.
