Miss Breakbone hated kids. Every time she made a student cry, she gave herself a gold star. Confiscating was her specialty. Rumor had it she’d bought her electric chair from selling all the stuff she’d taken away.

Einstein, Junkyard, Pencil, Hollywood, Spitball, Nails, Wheels, Clips, Spider, and Google-Eyes are the Dunderheads.  Each of them have a different talent, whether it’s watching every movie ever made 11 times, or putting 48 extra gears on their bike, plus a reclining chair.  Miss Breakbone is their new teacher, who obviously has no eye for talent, and when she confiscates Junkyard’s one-eared cat toy, she goes too far, and it’s time for the Dunderheads to take action.

This was an awesome book to read aloud, or to yourself. Both the illustrations and the words were flooded with description that made the book fun to read, and easy to understand. The characters were unique, and the relationships and emotions shown helped the story to flow into an interesting plot with a surprising, satisfying ending.  For some kids the plot might be a little complicated and the beginning a little confusing, but we had an awesome time reading this book. It is a story that makes you want to read it over and over, that’s how great it is. We recommend this book for ages Kindergarten to Grade 2.

Koryn and Carson give The Dunderheads 5 stars.
