These are some things that happen in the life of Flora Segunda; Half-Bird humans chase after you, your sister shaves her head bald, and boots turn your best friend into a wanted criminal!  And I thought my life was weird!

Flora Segunda’s story continues to unravel as she is on her quest to become a ranger. Little does she know that she will discover secrets behind an underground terror and her dysfunctional family life.

Wilce has once again turned her military knowledge into an exciting, heart pounding read. This is the second book about Flora and because she is older, she experiences things that are more appropriate for older readers, most likely ages 13+.

In Flora’s Dare you can guarantee heart-pounding experiences, and with Wilce’s exciting plot, you will not be able to put this book down. I was trapped in Wilce’s suspenseful masterpiece like a fly in a spider’s web. The characters are vivid, real, and full of emotion.  The series of events and characters are fabulously entwined with an array of personalities that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.  Flora and the others are full of humanlike twists and turns that make the story come to life. Even though there was some swearing and gruesome parts, I was swept along Flora’s magical journey. I have three more things to say:

I give Ysabeau S. Wilce’s stupendous creation, Flora’s Dare, 5 stars and recommend it for mature readers 12 and up.
