My Invisible Shackles
Kristina, Age 15, Huntsville, AL

The shackles around my legs,
They bring me down.
No one can see them
But they keep me bound.
(I just want to be free)
I close my eyes,
I feel the ties, getting a tighter
Hold on me.
I know this isnít meant to be.
(I should be free)

My invisible shackles
put a tight hold on my life.
It cuts into me just like a jagged knife.
Thatís why I wrote this song,
So I would feel like I belong.
The music playing through me,
makes me feel so FREE!
(Rock on, Rock on)

The walls around me are closing in.
All I can see is where Iíve been.
My future doesnít seem so bright.
I need to find my light.
(I just want to be free.)
The lies they tell me.
The way they want me to be,
But what they donít see is,
Iím me for all eternity.
(I should be free.)

The shackles around my legs,
they make me cry.
I wish that everyone,
would listen to my life.
Oh, what a lie.
(I just want to be free)
No matter what I do,
they wont let me go.
(I should be free)

My invisible shackles
put a tight hold on my life.
It cuts into me just like a jagged knife.
Thatís why I wrote this song,
So I would feel like I belong.
The music playing through me,
makes me feel so FREE!
(Rock on, Rock on)

No one seems to want to help me,
I will never be free.
Iíll be wearing these shackles all
MY LIFEÖ
How I wish this was a lie.
(I wish I was free)
Can you not see the knife that,
they are using against me?
(I should be free)

My invisible shackles
put a tight hold on my life.
It cuts into me just like a jagged knife.
Thatís why I wrote this song,
So I would feel like I belong.
The music playing through me,
makes me feel so FREE!
(Rock on, Rock on)
