Solomon and Constance Blink----Sol and Connie for short----have just moved into the small town of Schoneberg, leaving all their friends (and a very special cat) behind. All is dull. That is, until they meet Fay Holaderry and her dog, Swift. Really a dastardly witch, the very one who lured Hansel and Gretel into her cottage, Sol and Connie must foil her before it’s too late. This was a good book. It’s a little scary, kind of funny, and a great mystery (about who Sol and Connie can trust, at least). It’s suspenseful and amazing, though I didn’t find the ending very satisfying. All and all, however, this was a very good first book for Keith McGowan. The Witch’s Journal was a good book. I give it 4 stars and recommend it for ages 9-12. RATING:
