Westfield Heritage Village, Rockton Ontario, is pleased to announce that this year’s Anne of Green Gables look-alike contest will be held on Sunday, September 1st.

Rosy knows everything about the Anne of Green Gables series. So you bet she is pleased when she hears about the Anne of Green Gables look-alike contest. Just one problem. Well, two. One, they don’t have a car or anything for a costume, and two, she’s half-Mohawk. Usually, she’s very proud of this, but it won’t help her win the look-alike section. But when she meets a girl named Lydia, something changes Rosy. Will it help her win the contest? Read on to find out!

The Contest was an excellent book. It had suspense, happiness, tears, and a surprise ending! I found the ending complete, and it doesn’t leave you hanging. Lydia is a true friend, but sometimes Rosy doesn’t see that. The characters varied; some were wonderful, some nasty, and a few just plain lacked a personality. In some parts I was crying, and in others I was laughing-out-loud. All and all, this was a great read!

Caroline Stellings is an author, an artist and an illustrator. She loves painting birds and animals outside her window. Her previous books include the popular Skippers at Cape Spear. She lives in a small town near Hamilton, Ontario.

I give The Contest four stars and recommend this latest book in the GUTSY GIRL series for ages 9 and up.
