"Why, before we meet again,
amigo, I will have sipped sweet water in Sunset Beach, California, and
watched the sun set in Sweet Water, Alabama. A master spy's work is never
done. Now, you tell your associates in CHILD POWER how much I look forward
to working with them again. And, of course, with you, too, Jacob Two-Two,
if not today or tomorrow, then before too long, I hope. See you anon, dear
boy."
"Come home safely, Mr. Dinglebat,” said Jacob Two-Two. "Come home safely,
please."
And he stood there, waving, until the helicopter was no more than a dot in
the sky.
Jacob Two-Two has just recently moved from England, and is slowly getting
used to life in Canada. But things are so different then what they seem!!
His neighbor, Mr. Dinglebat, is a master spy. His teacher, Miss Sour Pickle
is extremely strict. His new principal, Mr. I.M. Greedyguts, saves all the
good food for himself, and takes naps at school. And loathsome Leo Louse,
supposedly the school’s "excellent" cook, is downright horrible at creating
anything edible and yummy.
What can I say about Jacob Two-Two? You definitely feel bad for him, being
ignored and all, but I had a very good connection with character, and I,
too, am the youngest of five kids. It is a very creative novel; it's a short
one, good if you don’t have much extra time on your hands. Yet, it's hard to
put down after you start to read it. More of a children’s book, but you do
have to pay attention for it to flow.
I'll give Jacob Two-Two's First Spy Case three and one-half
spy-worthy stars and recommend it to readers aged 7 to 11.
