The Teddy Bear
Anjali, Age 10, Jackson, AL

Your color has faded,
Not to mention all the stuffing coming out of your side,
You are missing one of your cute button eyes,
Your fur is patched,
And your ear shows all kinds of wear and tear,
You are missing a stitch on your mouth, so now you wear a frown,
Your belly, which used to be full, now sags at the bottom,
Your nose is old and mouldy,
Your odor smells of an old attic,
You are kind of moth bitten,
And your satin, blue ribbon is frayed at the ends,
it lays limp around your neck.
You remind me of my childhood,
And sweet memories come flowing back.
I pick you up and hug you against my chest,
You are just perfect for me!
