Daddy's Not There
Priscila, Age 15, Miami, FL

I needed you the most, you were never there,
Not even did you show throughout thick or thin,
Never in my life did you take me anywhere.
I couldn’t help but think of this and grin.
I hoped life would go back to its good old ways,
The times I wouldn’t look outside my window sadly.
Every night I waited in tears for that day,
The day for you to rejoin our family.
Mom would always say you would soon be back.
Too late now. I don’t want you in my life,
Just the thought gives me a heart attack.
I found out you left us for your new wife.
Thanks to you I never had a real father,
If you try now you would be a bother.
