Under the Hot Sun
Jonathan, Age 15, La Fayette, NY

Staying out all day long,
Through seconds, minutes, hours gone,
Under hot and dreary sun,
Just to get all work done.
Making sure to not do wrong,
So the jobs will move swiftly along,
To keep the heat and sweat outrun,
Or get to recreations of fun.
All this work will make one strong,
And causes great happiness year long.
A lesson is that once a job has begun,
Working fast and hard will bring victory won.
One must enjoy the work until it has gone,
Not let himself become headstrong.
When the job is complete, and the sun's rays been spun,
Tomorrow there will always be another one.
