Just Ink on the Page
Hannah, Age 14, Vancouver, AB

The blank page lies
empty and foreboding
in front of me.
In my mind are the words
flashing and waiting
to slip into my fingers
and make my pen
form the letters.
Tumbling and jumbling
the words escape.
Lines of black shapes
fill the page
that once stood
blank and empty.
Twists and turns
the words fly
and take me away.
On their backs
I am free
with my words around me.
When the lines end
touch gently back
down to earth
and leave the words waiting
for their next flight.
