Gary is the winner of the 2008 B.C. Lieutenant Governor's Award for Literary Excellence. Dr. Dawne McCance, Head of the Department of Religion at the University of Manitoba, was the fifth Mackie Lake House Writer in Residence. She was in residence from October 13-27, 2007.
